Performance Enhanced Fillers Novakup MSDS
A filler particle cross-linked with a resin particle can typically provides one or more of the following improvements:
- Better physical properties
- Better mechanical properties
- Better electrical insulation properties
- Better resistance to loss of properties under prolonged moisture saturation
A filler material particle's ability to cross-link with resin particles is greatly improved when a coupling agent is applied to the surface of the filler material particle - a process referred to as "surface treating", "surface modification", or "coating". A surface treated filler can chemically bond to the resin matrix which allows for the improved properties listed above.
Since surface treating adds expense to the filler material, enhanced fillers are best suited for applications where performance is the key driving factor as opposed to economics. Of course, improved overall performance can often drive improved overall economics for the application.
